Leslie Nord's Random Thoughts on Friends, Family and Life

I was never much of a writer - more like a rambler that can easily get lost in a tangent. My blog lets me go out on those tangents any time I want to. So remember, life is like a rollercoaster: Sit down and hang on. Sometimes you'll want to scream, sometimes you'll puke, but give it a chance and you'll find it can be a lot of fun.

Not taking sides

After getting a late night call from the sister-in-law asking for help loading a truck at 5AM this morning, I’m a little more than tired. If I didn’t show up comments would have been made about me not being there. Little did I know that not only would the father-in-law be there, his new wife was there along with the mother-in-law. Seems like the plan was to get her packed up and out with letting her husband know. Considering I’m kept in mushroom status most of the time, I really didn’t know the whole story. I knew there had been some late night conversations with the husband – seems he had decided it was best she move out. The reason why are extremely vague to me – I had heard talk of him getting physical with her but there are two sides to every story. There’s a long history of hot-headed tempers on the in-law side including the sister-in-law. So I won’t take sides – I don’t know the whole story.

The sad part of the whole ordeal was the disappointment of being told by the mother-in-law she’s just too busy to come see our new house – it’s our first home. I suppose it can be said that it’s my fault – she doesn’t like me after the heated discussion we had about religion (yeah, yeah taboo subject, I know) and the Bible. She wound up telling us we would burn in hell and left in tears. I did go and apologize right away, but she’s not called much since then. She’ll come to town but not call. But the most painful thing I remember was once when I had had a heated argument with my husband about my daughter (that’s about the only thing we argue about) I had gone over to her place to let him cool down and her comment to me was why do I stay married to him?

Oh but anyhow, I need to get back to doing battle with this cantankerous Miva Merchant site that is giving me fits – I’ve got to figure out why my custom scripting killed the submit button, sigh…and then there is the laundry. At least I have Phantom of the Opera to listen to.
